Day 1: ARRIVAL IN NICARAGUA
Welcome to Augusto Cesar Sandino International Airport of Managua, Nicaragua's capital city, of where your Coco Tours guide will be waiting. Visit of the craft market. If you arrive in late afternoon, the first night will be in Managua.


Coffee Trail and Natural Reserve

Day 2: Managua - Estelí - Ocotal
Transfer to Estelí, travel time: 2 hours and a half. On the way, we will visit Ruben Dario Museum. Then, we will cool off at Estanzuela's waterfalls. Thereafter, we will drive to Ocotal to visit the coffee hacienda San Isidro which offers a beautiful panoramic view as it is located in one of the highest region in Nicaragua. We will end our day with a visit at the ethnic village Monzonte known for its picturesque pottery industry. Back to Estelí for the night.


Day 3: NATURE RESERVE MIRAFLOR
Miraflor Natural Reserve rises at 1700 meters and covers 254 km2. We will go for a hike to explore 3 different climates and vegetation (dry, tropical rain forest, and the conifers also known as nebliselva), 9 communities, and several lagoons with incredible biodiversity (many orchids species and fauna with more 300 species). Night in Cebollàl, a homestay in the reserve which allow to be in harmony with nature, but also to share moments with friendly hosts of this community.
Note: The host families are used to receive travelers, so their rooms are clean and comfortable. However, it is always possible to sleep in a hotel outside the reserve.


Colonial towns and volcanoes

Day 4: CEBOLLÁL – LEÓN
Transfer to Leon, travel time: 2 hours and a half. Visit of Leon Viejo ruins which were declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Later, we will visit Ruben Dario Museum, then, walk around the León's center that houses several buildings from the colonial era, including the largest cathedral in Central America. We will go up to Catedral de León's bell tower  to enjoy a panoramic view of the town and volcanoes whose Telica which has a crater more than 200 feet deep.
Excursion possible: 4 volcanoes ascent such as San Cristobal, Cerro Negro, Momotombo and Telica. Volcán Telica is constantly active and is one of the most spectacular volcanoes in Central America, from its top we can see the entire city of Leon, the other four volcanoes and even the Pacific Ocean.


Day 5: LEON - CHICHIGALPA - PACIFIC COAST
At Chichigalpa, visit the famous Flor de Caña Rum Factory. Considered the best rum in Central America and one of the world's best, Flor de Caña has won 72 international awards. You will learn about the history of this impressive distillery and all processes and manufacturing steps of the famous rum. Then we will go to the Pacific coast to enjoy Poneloya beach. Night in Poneloya.

Day 6: PONELOYA - MASAYA VOLCANO (travel time: 2 hours)
After breakfast, we will go to the Masaya Volcano National Park and will climb the volcano (accessible to all) where we can observe the amazing Santiago crater in active since 1946. Pic-nic on the crater rim, and then we will go for a walk in an amazing cavity formed by the last eruption. Later in the afternoon, we go to Masaya colonial town counting over 1000 years of history. In the sixteenth century, Spanish settlers organized this small town in large craft workshop, which are manufactured, among others, the world's most popular hammocks. Visit of the market. Overnight in Masaya.

Day 7: MASAYA - GRANADA - APOYO LAGOON
Transfer to Granada, travel time: 1 hour. Granada was founded in 1524 by Capitán Francisco Hernández de Córdoba around the Mombacho volcano and the great lake of Managua. We will visit the historic center with many churches and convents. Then, for lunch and to swim, we will go to Laguna de Apoyo, an incredibly blue and fresh water trapped in the crater of the volcano under the same name. Back to Granada for the night.

Nicaragua Lake and Ometepe Island

Day 8: LAS ISLETAS
Boat trip on the third largest lake in Latin America, Lake Nicaragua. We will discover some of its 365 islands formed by the eruption of Volcano Mombacho (Las Isletas), then lunch and swim in the grand lake. Overnight in Granada.

Day 9: GRANADA - OMETEPE ISLAND
In the morning, transfer to Rivas to board the ferry that will take us to Ometepe Island on Lake Nicaragua. travel time: 1 hour drive + 1 hour ferry. This island, in addition to being associated with myths and legends, is nicknamed the "oasis of peace" for his zen population living in harmony far from the rest of the world. From your hotel in Santo Domingo, you can enjoy the lake's beaches resembling an inner Sea.

Day 10:  MADERAS VOLCANO (1,394 meters).
Morning departure by 4x4 to Hacienda Magdalena. From there, we will start climbing Volcán Maderas across the rainforest untill reaching the crater where you can enjoy a panoramic breathtaking view. Then, we will descend down into the crater flooded by amazing turquoise waters. Hiking time: 6 hours.
Note: Possility to perform the ascent of volcán Concepción (1,610 meters), unfortunately often closed due to the constant activity.
Pacific Beaches

Pacific Coast

Day 11 and 12: SAN JUAN DEL SUR
Transfer to Pacific Coast, travel time: 1 hour. Rest and enjoy the beautiful beach of San Juan del Sur. Several activities are possible: surfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing

Day 13: SAN JUAN DEL SUR - MANAGUA
In the afternoon, transfer to Managua capital city. Travel time: 2 hours.
Possible extension to the Atlantic coast, in Corn Island, formed with Big and Little Corn, a paradise surrounded by white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. This haven is perfect for exotic beaches and coral reefs lovers, especially for diving and snorkeling. Corn Island has a adequate tourist infrastructure. Note that to reach the islands, it is recommended to take a national flight.

Day 14: Transfer to the airport to connect with your flight home.
